The Hydrofoil to Capri
This is the Aliscafi (hydrofoil) we took from Naples to Isle of Capri. Note the "wings" under the boat. Once they crank up the engines, the boat lifts out of the water, and actually rides on these wings.
It is about a 40 minute ride between Naples Harbor and Marina Grande, Isle of Capri.

Mt. Vesuvius, the famous volcano that buried Pompeii
and nearby Herculaneum in 79 AD looms in the background.

It's actually nicer and more comfortable in the Aliscafi than on many an airplane. Many Naples executives reside on Isle of Capri and commute to work this way every day.
